Day One/Two: Arrival

Arrived in London yesterday! Totally jet-lagged and severely dehydrated, we set out to stroll through Hyde Park only to realize that it's a bit further than we imagined and we had taken the long way around. It was a pretty walk, through a weird mix of back alleys and tourist-clogged roads. By the time we reached the entrance to Hyde Park and found our first Large statue of the Royal Seal, we decided we were desperately hungry. So, one pub stop later (no beer yet-- too tired!) we headed into the park during the last hour of good daylight. It was beautifully sunny, by the way.

We stumbled upon the side entrance to Kensington Palace, which was closed, but which had really neat gates. On our walk, I also discovered how much I like the British version of barbed wire. There are several varieties.

And then we went back to our hotel and passed out watching Willy Wonka.
